Noci is a small town of approximately 20 000 inhabitants standing on the hills between Bari and Taranto. Its architectonic features and its countryside are uniquely beautiful. The old town is characterized by white, narrow alleyways and by the so-called gnostre; typical open spaces in front of the ancient houses. There are also a number of elegant palaces of the old nobility in which the typical stone of the Murgia meets the iron of the intricate balconies and windows. Churches, including the rural church of Barsento, built in the 591 BC and the Benedictine Abbey Madonna della Scala, represent another peculiarity of the territory. Noci is only 10 minutes from Alberobello trulli, 15 minutes from the Itria Valley and 30 minutes from both the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas.
